7 succumb to oxygen shortage in Kalaburagi and Belagavi govt hospitals-1

Bengaluru: On Tuesday May 4, the Karnataka oxygen crisis worsened, with the deaths of seven COVID patients in Kalaburagi and Belagavi government hospitals, reportedly due to a lack of oxygen.

Four people died in the morning in Kalaburagi government hospital and three in Belagavi government hospital, according to reports, allegedly due to a lack of life-saving gas.

Kalaburagi district in-charge, Mining and Geology Minister Murugesh Nirani, dismissed the argument, claiming that patients died due to Covid and not because of oxyygen shortage.

24 COVID patients died in Chamarajanagar district hospital in the last two days, reportedly due to a lack of oxygen.

Opposition leader and former chief minister Siddaramaiah alleged that 28 people have died in the Chamarajanagar district hospital. He said that the incident reflected poorly on the government and demanded that health minister Dr. K Sudhakar resign for his handling of the COVID-19 crisis.

Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa assigned Large and Medium Scale Industries Minister Jagadish Shettar to arrange oxygen supply and coordinate with the Centre to get the state's quota of oxygen on Tuesday, taking the oxygen shortage seriously.
