Bengaluru: As many as 16 people fell in the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police net for duping sub-inspector test candidates. Reportedly, the accused had promised to leak the recruitment test question paper that was held on Sunday, to the candidates.
Reportedly, some of the accused are teachers, tutors of coaching centres and even three police personnel. They are from various parts of the state. Bengaluru City Police Commissioner T Suneel Kumar told The Hindu that during the raid, two of the accused police personnel escaped. “Efforts are being made to nab them,” he said.
In a bid to crack down on the scam, a total of nine CCB police teams simultaneously raided several areas in Bengaluru, Tumakuru, Belagavi and Vijayapura. The police caught wind of this scam while a BMTC/KSRTC recruitment exam paper leak that was reported a few days ago.
After the arrests were made the police reportedly recovered Rs 42.1 lakhs in cash, Rs 3 lakhs in cheques as well as some blank cheques. However, the police confirmed that no question papers were leaked and that the accused had not held up their end of the bargain.
