Bagalkot: Even though Infosys Foundation chief Sudha Murthy belongs on the list of the uber-wealthy, she is very humble and altruistic. On Sunday, the vegetable sellers of the Jamakhandi weekly market were in for a surprise when Murty was seen wandering in the market, looking to buy vegetables.
Murty, who had arrived with her relative Narayana Kulkarni, met several sellers and bought vegetables. She didn’t bargain with any of the vendors.
Instead, she listened to the challenges faced by both sellers and vegetable growers.
Narayana Kulkarni then informed them that Sudha Murty loves vegetables grown on the banks of the river Krishna, for their flavour. “Every time she carries vegetables from here. But this time, she has come here to buy them,” he said.
Earlier in the day, Murty offered special prayers at the Lakshmi Narasimha temple in Shoorpalii, Jamakhandi. She stayed at Narayana Kulakarni’s residence and also visited the Badami and Banashankari temples.
