Bagalkot: Launching a scathing attack on the Congress while campaigning for Bagalkot BJP candidate P C Gaddigaudar in Bagalkot on Thursday, April 18, Prime Minister Narendra Modi questioned whether the vote bank of the Congress is in Bagalkot or in Balakot?
Addressing the Vijay Sankalp Convention here, the Prime Minister said that after the airstrikes in Pakistan, the Congress leaders were reportedly told not to encourage the airstrikes as it would harm their vote banks.
“Our brave soldiers stepped on Pakistani soil and wiped out the terror breeding grounds and here in India, parties like the Congress and the JDS did not want to believe that such an operation was executed successfully. They feared for the repercussions as they felt their vote bank would be affected,” he said adding that when the Congress government was in power, Pakistan used to threaten India saying that it is a nuclear power, but after the Balakot attack, it is crying for help.
He further said that during the UPA government, the entire world looked at India as a corrupt nation because of a string of massive corruption scandals that were exposed like the 2G scam, Common Wealth Games scam and the likes. “Nobody wanted to invest in India. It is only now that position of India is improving,” he said.
Speaking about the unresolved Kashmir crisis, the PM said that they are asking for another Prime Minister for Kashmir. “Should this be allowed,” he threw a question at the audience.
Later, the entire gathering shouted ‘Main Bhi Chaowkidaar’ slogans.
