Kasargod: Bekal police here arrested three fraudsters after an operation conducted on the night of Saturday April 24. The police have seized fancy currency notes with a face value of about Rs 40 crore and genuine currency notes worth Rs 6 lakh from them.
The arrested have been identified as Nawab Malick Saleem Sheikh (37), who is from Maharashtra but currently a resident of Mangaluru, Pune-based Anshib Arjun (35), and Parameshwar Narsuma (45) from Solapur. They were taken into custody when they were moving towards Kanhangad from the direction of Kasargod.
The police were checking vehicles at Uduma when an Innova car came that way. During the checking of the vehicle, the illegal activity of the concerned came into the open. It was found that genuine currency notes were kept at the top and bottom of the bundles were fake currency notes.
The arrested claimed that the notes were being taken for film shooting but upon further questioning, the police found that they were not connected with the cine world.
The police also said that the arrested men already face some cases in Mangaluru and Mumbai. Further investigation is underway.
