Kasargod: Re-polling is going on in four Lok Sabha constituencies of Kasargod and three Lok Sabha constituencies of Kannur amidst tight security.
The polling percentage was good in the first few hours. CCTV cameras were being used to capture the polling process. Valid identity cards were made compulsory and the voters were allowed to vote only after confirming the identity of the voter. Women polling staff were specially appointed to ascertain the identity of the burqa-clad women voters.
Voting is progressing peacefully. In the Pilathara polling booth, there was some argument between the Communist and the Congress party workers, but the police intervened and dispersed the group.
Only the revenue department employees were appointed for the election duty. In every polling booth, the polling officer was of the rank of Tahashildar.
Long queues of voters were seen in all the polling booths. Media persons were restricted from filming the voting process.
