Manjeshwar all set for by-polls, 2 lakh electorates to caste vote tmrw

Kasargod: Over 2, 14,779 voters are expected to vote in the by-elections for the Manjeshwar assembly constituency to be held on Monday, October 21. That is why nearly 198 polling booths have been installed.

On Sunday, October 20 morning, electoral equipments were transported from the Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Paivalike Nagar to respective polling booths.

According to the statistical report, there are 1, 06, 928 female voters, 1, 07, 851 male voters, and 1240 specially-abled voters.

Around 257 EVMs have been arranged for the by-elections; Nearly 20 polling booths will be live-telecasted on the web and para military forces have been deployed at 49 polling booths.

Around 105 polling booths have been declared as sensitive areas and police are maintaining a vigilant watch over such areas.

In order to identify women wearing scarf and burqa, 198 women polling assistants have been appointed.

Candidates from different political parties will also be casting their votes from the assigned booths.

LDF party candidate Shankar Rai Master will be casting his vote in polling booth number 165 at the Government High School, Angadimogar. Candidates M C Khamaruddin and Ravish Tantri Kuntar, from UDF and BJP, respectively, will not be casting their votes in this constituency as they do not belong to Manjeshwar.

The highest number of voters are concentrated at polling booth number 93 (1463 voters) at ALP School Ichilangod area and polling booth number 194 at Swamy Vivekananda AUP School, Swarga has the least number of registered voters (628 voters).
