Kasargod: Kasargod district Deputy Commissioner (DC) D Sajithbabu and Dakshina Kannada district DC Sasikanth Senthil jointly held a meeting on Wednesday, June 19, to discuss various measures to solve the prolonged border disputes between the two districts. Problems caused by wild animals to the people living in the border areas of the two districts were also discussed.
During the meeting, it was decided that further discussions need to be held between the two DCs of the border districts and also between the people’s representatives at various levels.
It was also decided that discussions about the border issues will be held between the officers of the Delampady grama panchayat office of Kasargod and Mandekolu grama panchayat of Dakshina Kannada. The revenue and forest survey departments of Kerala and Karnataka would also need to be included in the discussions.
The problems faced due to wild elephants and other wild animals straying into the Delampady grama panchayat area was discussed and it was decided to create awareness among the people living in the area.
It was also decided to conduct a survey where frequent disputes are seen regarding the state border and resolve these issues.
Kasargod Section Forest Officer K Anup Kumar, Karnataka Deputy Forest Officer Shankara Gowda, Kasargod Range Forest officer N Anil Kumar and Sullia Range Forest Officers Manjunath N, Sullia Taluk were also present.
