mj campaign 002Kasargod: The Manjeswar Assembly constituency is gearing up for the upcoming by-election scheduled to be held on October 21.

There are as many as seven candidates are in the fray for the by-election.

Manjeshwar will, once again, see a three-way battle between the UDF-IUML’s M C Khamaruddin, the LDF-CPI(M)’s M Shankar Rai and the BJP’s Kuntaru Ravish Tantri.

All the contenders are campaigning aggressively as this by-election is crucial for all the three parties.

The major parties are holding conferences at the local level and are strategising on their campaign. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala and other leaders will arrive in the district next week. Their arrival is expected to intensify the campaign.

The Manjeshwar constituency has around 2,14,810 voters. As many as 198 booths have been set up for the by-elections.
