Hubballi: Rebutting charges made by the Opposition on ruling party that the state government is trying to protect the tainted Lokayukta Justice Bhaskar Rao, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that Congress legislators will support the impeachment motion moved by BJP and JD(S) against Justice Bhaskar Rao.

Bihar rejected communal agenda of BJP and RSS: Siddaramaiah-1Speaking to reporters after inaugurating an ambitious project worth Rs. 1,049.74 crore aimed at providing drinking water to all 343 villages in Gadag district, Siddaramaiah said that a decision to ouster Upa Lokayukta Justice Subhash Adi will be taken on Monday November 23 after discussion with legislators of the party before the Legislative session resumes.

The CM claimed that several charges have been leveled against Justice Adi.

Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh however, reportedly told Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru to take a decision on removing Justice Adi only after consulting senior leaders of the party.

Earlier in the Legislative Assembly on Friday, the state government announced that it would back the move made by the Opposition for the removal of Lokayukta Justice Bhaskar Rao over the corruption case.

After CM Siddaramaiah announced the ruling party’s decision to back the petition seeking the removal of Justice Rao, Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa scheduled a fully fledged debate on the subject in the Assembly on Monday November 23.

With the Congress joining in, the future of Rao, who is facing charges of abetting internal corruption in the anti-corruption watchdog, becomes shakier. He is currently on the fifth extension of leave.
