Hubballi: Responding to the State Cabinet’s decision to grant separate religion status to Lingayats, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Jagadish Shetter said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was creating friction between castes and people would teach him a lesson.
He said that the Cabinet’s decision was not showing any clarity on whether it was recommending the central government to grant a separate religion status to the Lingayats.
“In fact, Justice Nagamohana Das committee was nominated from the Minority Commission. They have submitted a report on giving a minority status to the Lingayats. But, those who used to speak about separate religion are now prepared to recommend for the minority status”, Shettar added.
