Hubballi: Remembering the demolition of Babri Masjid in Ayodhya, members of Karnataka Muslim Ekikaran Samiti (KMES) and Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) observed “Black Day” and staged a protest in front of Mini Vidhan Soudha here on Tuesday demanding reconstruction of Babri Masjid in Ayodhya at the earliest.

The members urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to show the will to take action against all those who were involved in the demolition of Babri Masjid in Ayodhya.

Displaying black flags, KMES members submitted a memorandum to the President of India through the tahsildar. The President should intervene in the issue, to reconstruct the Masjid, while action should be taken against those who demolished it in 1992, as per Liberhan Commission recommendations, they demanded.

The Justice Liberhan Commission which had studied the Babri Masjid demolition case for over 17 years had submitted a report in 2009 mentioning the names of 68 leaders, majority of whom were from Sangh Parivar and now it’s time the prime minister acts on them, they said.

Dadapeer M Koppal, Salavuddin Mulla, Jalalsab Bijapuri, Isuf Befari and others led the protest.

The SDPI members also staged a protest and they demanded that Babri Masjid should be reconstructed to re-establish secularism in the country.

“RSS and other such organisations intensified their efforts to divide the society on the basis of religion, after the demolition of Babri Majid. All secular people should fight against this, and secularism cannot be re-stablished till Babri Masjid was reconstructed,” they added.
