Hubballi: Senior Congress leader and former chief minister Siddaramaiah has said that a probe must be held into the allegation that Popular Front of India funded the anti-CAA protests.

Addressing a news conference on Tuesday, Siddaramaiah said a probe must be conducted to ascertain the source of funding for the anti-CAA protest and medium with which the money was made available.

“If the funding came from outside the country then the Income Tax officials and the Enforcement Directorate sleuths must get into action,” he said.

Continuing his attacks on the BJP government at the state, Siddaramaiah said that Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa is suffering now after purchasing MLAs from other parties.

“He is not in a position to fulfil the promises made to the rebels and now all his strategies are backfiring,” he said adding that cabinet expansion is a chief minister’s prerogative, but it is evident that there is no internal democracy in the BJP.

“That is precisely the reason why BSY is not able to get the cabinet expansion done as per his wishes,” said Siddaramaiah.

He also attacked the centre and said that developmental works in the state have been stalled because the centre is not releasing funds.

“Ask them any question about development and they will tell you to wait till the budget is presented. Is BSY going to get some magic wand after budget session,” questioned Siddaramaiah.

Speaking about the CAA, Siddaramaiah said that the stand of the Congress is clear. “CAA is not just against the Muslims, but it is also against the Dalits, the tribals too,” he said.
