\'Pakistan Zindabad\' row: Court rejects accused Kashmiri students\' bail plea-1

Hubbali: The three Kashmiri students who allegedly shouted pro-Pakistani slogans, are in more legal trouble as their bail plea has been rejected by the Sessions Court.

On Monday, March 9, the 5th Additional Sessions Court, which had taken up the students' bail plea, quashed and rejected their petition. The decision was read out by Judge K Gangadhar.

It can be recalled that on Thursday, March 5, the court had said that it would hear the bail plea case on Monday, March 9.

Earlier, the three students- Ameer Vani, Talib Majeed and Basith Sofi, who were pursuing their studies at the KLE Engineering College, made a video of themselves hailing Pakistan and saying “Pakistan Zindabad”, which was then shared on social media. After the video went viral, the police arrested the trio for sedition. Soon after the incident, three were suspended by the college administration.

At first, the accused students were held at the Hubbali sub-jail and later, they were moved to Hindalga Jail.

Reportedly, the three were attacked by a mob, who pelted stones at them near the court as they were being brought for the first hearing.

A team of Bengaluru lawyers led by B T Venkatesh had argued in favour of the trio in the court. The lawyers had also received flak for fighting the case in favour of the accused students. The lawyers were also pelted with stones.
