North K’taka heats up; Gadag temperature highest in 78 years

Hubballi: The temperature in North Karnataka has risen above 40 Degree Celsius, leaving the people in lurch.

According to the officials of Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC), there are chances of increase in the temperature in the next few days. However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported that the temperature will come down after April 30.

On Thursday, April 25, Gadag had a record high temperature of 41 Degree Celsius, for the first time in 78 years. It is said that such a rise in temperature in the district was last recorded in 1941. On Friday, April 16, the temperatures in Kalaburagi had increased to 43.3 Degree Celsius. It was 42 Degree Celsius in Raichur and 39 Degree Celsius in Haveri.

According to IMD, the temperature will increase by 3-4 degrees in the next three days in Belagavi, Vijayapura, Bidar, Bagalkot, Dharwad, Gadag, Kalaburagi, Yadagiri, Ballari, Haveri, Koppala and Raichur.

IMD has forecast that there are chances of hurricane ‘Fanny’ hitting Tamil Nadu which might result in heavy rains in most parts of Karnataka also. The temperature will come down in the state if that happens, say officials.
