Hubballi: Leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, has said the land acquisition policy of the UPA government was not anti-farmer, as has been made out, but the NDA government had changed it by diluting it in the name of promoting the industry sector.
“We strongly opposed such anti-people bills in the Rajya Sabha. So, the government is bringing in ordinances,” he said.
Kharge said the BJP leaders’ talk about a ‘Congress-free India’ was mere sloganeering. Earlier, speaking after inaugurating Ashraya Colony for beedi workers, Kharge said the NDA government was reducing allocation of funds for the schemes introduced by the UPA government, and changing their names.
“The BJP came to power by misguiding the people. It should now focus on the assurances given by it during the elections, instead of merely criticising the Congress,” he said.
