I would never beg anyone to save my govt: HDK-1Hubballi: Former Chief Minister of Karnataka H D Kumaraswamy has said that he would have never begged before anybody to save his government.

Kumaraswamy, who is presently touring the flood-hit pockets of northern Karnataka, spoke to reporters in Hubbalii on Monday, October 28, and said that he was determined to waive off the farmers' loan in the state and he remained in power till the same was done. "Once the farm loans waiver programme was implemented, I stepped down willingly," he said.

Taking a jibe at Congress leader and former chief minister Siddaramaiah and the others, he said that it was the Congress that came to his doorstep and requested him to become the CM so that they could come to power in the state. "The opportunist bunch then demanded specific portfolios and then they toppled the government," he alleged.

Meanwhile, HDK said that, no matter how difficult it got to keep the government alive, he never begged before anybody to support him so that he could remain in power.

"I focused only on loan waivers because I knew the meaning of the scheme. It could touch the lives of lakhs and lakhs of farmers' families. If not, many farmers would have killed themselves. I also realised that there is no need to beg for money from the Centre to waive off these loans, there is enough money with the state to do the same," he said.

He further said that Siddaramaiah has been claiming to have introduced the ambitious 'Anna Bhagya' scheme, but it is he who earmarked Rs 800 cr for the project. "How much money did Siddaramaiah earmark for the project?" HDK questioned.
