Hubballi: The third edition of “Hubballi Half Marathon” will be held here on November 19 and already, over 1000 enthusiasts have registered to participate in the event.
The Hubballi Fitness Club (HFC), an association of professionals and people from different walks of life, has been organising the event with an objective of promoting a healthy lifestyle and marathon running.
Coordinators of the HFC, Maheshkumar Shankar and S P Baligar, told press persons that apart from the half marathon (21.1 km) for athletes above the age of 18, there will be two more categories-the 10-km-run and 5-km-run for athletes in the age group of 12 to 18. Prizes worth a total of Rs 3.5 Lakh are to be won.
Maheshkumar said the event would begin from KLE Institute of Technology (located opposite Hubballi airport) at 5.30 AM on November 19 and all the participants who complete the race will get a finisher medal and timing certificate.
He said that Amit Samarth, the only Indian to complete the Race Across America (RAAM) and Iron Man contest, will flag off the half marathon.
