Yellapur: In a tragic accident between an Omni, bike and a private bus, five persons died on the spot at Gullapur here in the wee hours of Sunday, March 6.
Unfortunately, four dead are from the same family.
Devu Jadav (35), Shashikala Devamma (42), Askhata Devamma (22) and Sharada (55) who were in the Omni were the victims.
An unidentified bike rider was also killed on the spot.
Three other members travelling in the Omni who sustained serious injuries were Dyamanna (45), Jyothi (19) and Anil (12).
As per sources, the Omni was travelling from Haliyal to Dharmasthala when a private bus plying from Mangaluru to Gokak hit them head on. The bus then rammed into a bike killing the rider on the spot.
Negligent and rash diving of the bus driver lead to the accident.
A case has been registered at the Yellapur police station and the driver is taken into custody.
