Hubballi: The road widening project between Bankapur Chowk and Kittur Chennamma Circle in Hubballi is expected to be delayed further following improper planning and lack of coordination among officials.

They were shocked to find that there was no planning with regard to upgrading the old underground drainage network that passes through the road stretch. When locals brought this to their attention, Joshi took the officials to task for not mentioning the issue during the coordination meetings. He held the officials responsible for the mess.

The residents stressed on strengthened underground drainage network keeping in mind the increasing population, or else, they added that the road would have to be dug up next year to lay a new underground drainage line.

Joshi assured that he would speak to the municipal commissioner and other officials.

“Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had sanctioned an additional Rs 7 Crore as a special case after the municipal commissioner sought funds for land acquisition. But till date no steps have been taken for land acquisition for the road widening project,” he said.
