Hubballi: The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) teachers and graduates cell president R M Kuberappa recently urged the state government to declare the academic year 2020-21 as a ‘zero year’. He urged the government not to allow online education considering the difficulties faced by the students and their parents from rural regions, as well as the teachers during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

According to a report by the Deccan Herald, Kuberappa pointed out that many rural areas in the state do not have an internet connection and the poor families do not have smartphones. He then accused the report on online education submitted by an experts’ committee as being unscientific and said that the government should have taken the teachers’ consent in the matter.

Demanding that schools be opened from next June, Kuberappa informed that a delegation of teachers would be taken to meet Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and Minister for Primary and Secondary Education S Suresh Kumar to discuss the issue., DH reports.

It can be recalled that recently, a committee of experts recommended online learning for all classes with safety guidelines.
