Hubballi: Janata Dal (Secular) state president H D Kumaraswamy on Sunday said the Congress government in the state is more corrupt than the previous BJP government.
The former chief minister told reporters here that the corruption of Congress leaders in the government would be exposed. “I have documentary evidence to substantiate my claim. They would be revealed at an appropriate time,” he said, adding that with his fight against corruption he had brought the previous BJP government to its knees.
He accused the government of protecting corrupt officers. “There is no place for honest officers in the government. The best example is the recent transfer of IAS officer Rashmi,” he said.
Lashing out at the functioning of the government, the JD(S) leader said the government has increased the financial burden of the state.
“The Siddaramaiah government is more interested in popular schemes than in taking the state forward with inclusive development. The modified Anna Bhagya might lessen the burden on the government, but the rice distributed under the scheme is not consumed by the beneficiaries. So, the very purpose of the scheme is defeated,” he said.
Stating that farmers are in distress due to unseasonal rains, Kumaraswamy said they have received compensation of just Rs 9,000 as compensation.
He said pomegranate growers from 13 districts had met Governor Vajubhai Vala seeking to bring pressure on the government to waive their loans. However, nothing has been done.
He urged the state government to cancel the Crop Insurance Scheme as it was not serving any purpose.
Later, addressing party workers at Navanagar, Kumaraswamy said the JD(S) would soon launch a state-wide protest condemning the state and the central government’s anti-poor policies.
