Hubballi: The Congress party workers took out a rally in Hubballi on August 9, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of “Quit India” movement. The coming together of young and old leaders of Congress gave clear indication of giving message to its cadre of bringing the party to power in the coming elections.

After taking out a rally from Dr. B R Ambedkar Circle to Channamma Circle, singing Bhajans and raising slogans, the Congress leaders gathered at the Channamma Circle, where they were addressed by the leaders.

Addressing party workers, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) Vice President A M Hindasgeri said, “Our party has a strong history of making sacrifices for the independence of the country. Making the country Congress-free is impossible and it is just an illusion of the BJP. Some vested interests are twisting history and are saying wrong things about great personalities like Mahtama Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, to misguide the youth,” he added.

Later, All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary Manickam Tagore, who is in charge of party affairs in Belagavi division, told media persons that the party was being strengthened and steps being taken to defeat BJP in all 12,641 booths in Belagavi division.

Statues of Dr. B R Ambedkar and Kittur Channamma were also garlanded during the rally organised by the Congress Party city, district and rural units. “Raghupati Raghava Rajaram” Bhajan was sung while slogans like “Vande Matharam” and “Mahatma Gandhi Ki Jai” were raised.

MLC Shrinivas Mane, former minister S R Morey and former MLC Nagaraj Chebbi among other leaders took part.
