Hubballi: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has stated that the Congress Party leaders in Goa would be asked to co-operate for holding talks on Mahadayi issue with their Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
As interests of each State differ, the Chief minister has the responsibility to take Opposition parties into confidence for holding talks with other States. Goa CM Manohar Parrikar has to take Opposition parties there into confidence in the Mahadayi issue. “We will talk to Congress leaders in Goa. But, who will convince other Opposition parties in Goa,” Mr Siddaramaiah asked.
Speaking to media persons he said chief ministers of all concerned States would come for talks if the prime minister calls a meeting.
He thus reiterated the demand for prime minister’s intervention to resolve inter-State dispute over Mahadayi dispute though talks. Mr Siddaramaiah also instructed police officials to speed up the process of withdrawing cases filed against Mahadayi agitators and farmers.
While opposing the increasing petrol and diesel prices, CM said the State Government would express its stand on bringing petrol and diesel under the Goods & Services Tax (GST) in the GST Council meeting.
Demands
Navalgund-based Malaprabha Mahadayi Kalasa-Banduri Raitha Horata Okkuta, and Pakshateeta Raitha Horata Samithi urged the chief minister to take steps to speed up the hearing at Mahadayi Tribunal and to resolve Mahadayi dispute through talks among other demands.
