Hubballi: The ongoing protests for the implementation of the Kalasa-Banduri project, as part of the Mahadayi river water-sharing with Goa, has continued in the city. Navalgunda MLA N H Konareddy joined agitation held by Mahadayi, Kalasa-Bnaduri Samanvaya Samiti and lambasted at the state and the central governments here on Wednesday.
Even though agitations have been going on for the past three months in North Karnataka region, both the state and central governments have not shown any concern for the drinking water issue of the region. They are playing politics over the crucial issue, he said.
“When Siddaramaiah led State delegation met prime minister Modi to discuss and solve Kalasa-Banduri row with Modi on Aug 24, they had got no positive response. Modi has asked state government to solve the issue, even the state government is blaming PM. Despite the agitation by farmers both the governments had not taken the issue seriously.”
“Both the governments were spending time blaming each other and postponing taking steps for finding a solution to the problem, and thereby they are attempting to hault the Kalasa-Banduri protest. If this continues, they will have to face massive protest. They will be responsible for all the problems,” he warned.
