Designers Ritu Beri and Manish Arora presented their collections with a powerpacked audience, including BJP leader Sushma Swaraj, Union minister Shashi Tharoor and wife Sunanda, diplomat Pawan Varma and the regulars from the social and fashion set, in attendance.

Beris show that was more like a fashionable music concert had opulent ensembles on display ,the highlights being voluminous lehengas and exaggerated blouses. With singers Jassi and Sunanda Sharma in the background, the designers line titled Punjabi Rock Roll also saw male models and little fashion divas sashaying down the runway. While most of the garments looked a bit overdone, some stood out for their craftsmanship and detailing. Model Jesse Randhawa stole the spotlight as she swayed to Punjabi music while presenting Beris creations.

Beris show followed another grand one by internationally acclaimed designer Manish Arora. From the innovative circular runway to the peculiar mix of music, the designer kept his signature style alive with unique and futuristic ensembles.

Called “Indian”, his debut bridal collection had spectacular styling, the eye masks and maang tikas especially hogged a lot of attention.

Though most garments, in spite of all the bling, wouldnt be an Indian brides first pick, some pieces still made the mark with their sharp silhouettes.
The sequinned churidaars, quirky digital prints and chic collars might be the big trends that could soon be spotted on the new-age Indian bride.
