Shun synthetic fabrics, oily food to avoid body odour

New Delhi: Try not to eat extremely oily or spicy food as these can cause excess sweating, and avoid wearing clothes made of synthetic fabrics to keep body odour at bay, says an expert.

Lata Sharma, Dermatologist from Venus Clinic, shares how:

* Showering twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening, is ideal for anyone who is prone to excess sweating, even in the monsoon, when the weather outside is not too hot.

* Don’t start putting on clothes right after a shower. Thoroughly wipe your entire body and make sure it is dry because dampness attracts odour causing bacteria.

* A deodorant masks the pungent smell from sweating but you also need an antiperspirant to control the excess sweat throughout the day. A combination of both is your best bet to be odour-free.

* Whether or not your underarms are exposed, get rid of the unwanted underarm hair that retains the bacteria and promotes a foul smell.

* Avoid clothes with nylon and synthetic material as they retain sweat. Wearing cotton clothes allows the sweat to evaporate.

* Certain kinds of food like extremely oily or spicy food can cause excess sweating for some, resulting in body odour. It is wise to review food choices to tackle this problem.
