Holidaying in Mysore and Kabini with Savaari Car Rentals

Mysuru: Staying in the city with all the pressure of exams made me want to go on a solo trip. I have never traveled to South India, and this was my first trip there. After exploring a lot of sites, I decided to opt for Mysore and Kabini. Both locations lie close to each other and could be easily explored as said by the bloggers on the internet.

So I packed my bag, and the next thing I knew I was on the way to Mysore. Since I wanted to travel stress-free, I decided to go for a rented cab instead of taking public transport. I prebooked an airport taxi in Bangalore with Savaari car rentals, as my friends recommended their services.

The driver first picked me up from the Bangalore airport and took me to the hotel. He knew all about the city, which helped to calm my nerves about planning on where I wanted to go. He first took me to the most visited site in Mysore, which was The Royal Mysore Palace. It is established right in the heart of the city and has a mesmerizing view to when nearly ten thousand lamps light up at the place.

The next day we went to view the temples in Mysore. The temples there have magnificent architectural structure, and it will make your heart warm with the beauty of it. ISCON Temple, Chamudeshawari Temple, and Rangnathswamy temple are the famous ones that I visited. I tend to feel sleepy in cars, but the driver was a fantastic conversation holder. Honestly, if you are traveling alone, you should have a reliable guide or driver to converse. The same evening I went to watch the famous musical show at Brindavan Garden situated in KRS Dam. It was a delightful show.

The next day I decided to explore the museums to know about the historical aspects of the city. I understand that if you want to explore a city, you should start with the historical elements of the place. The museums I visited were Mysore Art Museum and the Sand Sculpture Museum. In the evening, the driver took me to the central market where you can buy souvenirs like Mysore apparel and artifacts. I tried “Mysorepaak” too! It’s a delicious sweet and is a must when you visit Mysore.

The following morning I left early to Chamundi hills to watch the sunrise. I cannot forget the sight of the sun rising over the city. After having some “chai” and snacks, I left for Kabini.

Kabini is approximately fifty kilometers away from Mysore. It took me around sixty minutes to reach there. Really, booking a cab from Bangalore to Mysore with Savaari was a godsend.

explore the bird sanctuaries. First, I went to Kabini River Lodge. The area is the hottest tourist spot in Kabini for bird-watching. The place is beside the banks of the Kabini river, and it is soothing to inhale the fresh air while watching birds and hearing the sound of the water rippling. I spotted many local and migratory birds there.

From what I learned, the Kabini river is a freshwater river. So naturally, it provides nutrition to birds which explains the reason behind the birds’ population there.

The next day, I left around nine in the morning to Nagarahole National Park. It lies in a district called Kodagu. Kodagu is known for its coffee plantations, and it’s beautiful weather. The park has around two hundred varieties of flora and fauna. On any given occasion some of the most commonly sighted birds in Nagarhole are blue-bearded bee-eater, Indian reed, Malabar whistling thrush, Malabar trogon, Malabar pied-hornbill, Common Hawk Cuckoo, Indian Roller, Woodpeckers, Changeable Hawk Eagle to name a few.
It was a paradisiac adventure for me since I love to surround myself with nature. The amazing part was the safari through its vast terrains. I remember seeing herds of Asiatic elephants and spotted deers around the river. I also saw leopards, panthers, bison, chital, and sambhar as well as a wide variety of birds.

So after this eventful day, I went back to the resort and spent the night there. It was hard for me to go back to the city since the trip was relaxing despite being adventurous. I took the cab back to the Bangalore Airport and flew to my home town.

If you are looking for a getaway after your exams or you want to take some days off from the hectic life, travel. I cannot stress enough on the fact of traveling, especially solo-traveling. You would be amazed to see the difference in the way you feel when you travel solo.
