Haveri: State home minister Basavaraj Bommai revealed that the threat call received by state rural development and panchayat raj minister K S Eshwarappa originated from Tamil Nadu.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, January 4, he said, “It is true that minister Eshwarappa received a threat call on Friday. The state home ministry has investigated the matter and we have discovered that it was made by a person residing in Tamil Nadu. Further investigation will be carried out by higher ranking police officials. Keeping this in mind, the minister’s security cover has been tightened.”
It can be recalled that on Friday, at around 12.30 PM, Eshwarappa’s personal secretary received a phone call and the person at the other end had threatened the Minister in Tamil.
The caller had reportedly said, “Eshwarappa only speaks on Hindutva lines. In the next 48 hours, his life will be in danger.”
The call was immediately brought to the notice of the Shivamogga Superintendent of Police, however, a complaint was not filed.
Earlier, the minister had received threat calls from Dubai.
