Hassan: Former prime minister and Janata Dal (S) Supremo H D Deve Gowda has said that when a young leader like Rahul Gandhi is in the race of becoming a prime minister, it was not ethical on part of him to be in the race, here on Thursday, February 28.
Speaking to media personnel in the tourism bungalow he said that Rahul Gandhi represents youth and when such a young leader contests, there is no question of an ‘86-year-old’ contesting the Lok Sabha polls.
He also said that it was common on the part of his supporters to be curious to know whether he would contest the elections or not.
Having said this, HDD also said that if the ‘mahagathbandhan’ collectively takes a decision in making him a prime ministerial candidate, then he would definitely think over it.
Meanwhile, he also taunted Prime Minister Narendra Modi for claiming credit for the surgical strikes and other important decisions saying, “Being in the highest position of the democratic setup, it is odd to self-praise oneself. The nation is watching you.”
“We must laud the efforts of our security forces and not take the credit of retaliation in speeches. That is not a sign of a good leader”, he added.
