Hassan: The central leaders of Congress will be taking an appropriate decision on a dalit taking over as the Chief Minister of Karnataka, said Home minister and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president Dr G Parameshwar on Friday.
Dr Parameshwar who was in Sakleshpur to attend Dr Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations, said he doesn’t feel that the party high command was not doing anything on the issue of a dalit becoming a Chief Minister.
He said that he never said he wanted to become the CM. Dalit leaders like Revenue Minister Srinivas Prasad and Congress leader in the Lok Sabha M Mallikarjun Kharge could also become the CM.
He also opined that a dalit Chief Minister would get a chance to serve the state if got an opportunity.
“I do not believe that by a dalit becoming a Chief Minister, it does not mean that there would be massive transformation in the society. But, it would give an opportunity for a dalit to serve the society and prove that even dalits are capable of running the administration,” he said.
