Hassan: Warning miscreants from making provocative statements which would create confusion among the minds of the people, Home minister G Parameshwara on Saturday said that the police would take stern action against those forces which were trying to disturb peace and law and order situation in the state.
Home Minister said that suitable action would be taken against persons who were involved in violent clashes in Mangaluru and Madikeri based on the reports of magisterial and police inquiry.
“There is no scope for moral policing in the State,” the Home Minister asserted.
He added that the State Government intends to spread the message of great personalities like Tipu Sultan among the people by celebrating birth anniversaries and unveiling statues of them. There was no proposal before the State Government to halt birth anniversary celebrations of Tipu Sultan, in the wake of recent violent incidents particularly in Madikeri which to led to two deaths.
The State Government had not received any proposals on holding birth anniversaries of Bengaluru founder Kempe Gowda and saint Shankaracharya, he added.
