Hassan: The Congress-Janata Dal (S) coalition says it is determined to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, and at the same time the coalition partners are busy slinging mud at each other, creating indifference among themselves.
Though the senior Congress leaders have asked their party members not to speak against JDS, Congress party leader and former legislator, H M Vishwanath has slammed H D Devegowda accusing him of playing dynastic politics.
Speaking at a press conference in Hassan, Vishwanath said, “H D Devegowda’s family is imposing dictatorship on its party members. People are living in an unannounced emergency like situation under Devegowda’s son H D Revanna. This has to be changed. During the 70s, Devegowda went to prison for opposing Emergency. The mother body of JDS, Janata Party was established under the leadership of Jayaprakash Narayan, which came into power in the Centre after Emergency. Even I have worked hard along with Devegowda to establish JDS.”
“Those days, the mission of Janata Party was to put an end to dictatorship and establish democracy in the nation. But today in Hassan, people are facing an unannounced emergency like situation under Revanna. Here officials and representatives of people do not have any value,” said Vishwanath.
“No family in the whole nation has the privilege of having three MPs from the same family. People have to think about this and vote sensibly. I will remain in the Congress party and will never join BJP. If the high command tries to expel me from the party, will it do the same to all the other party leaders and members who are raising their voice against the coalition?”, questioned Vishwanath.
He also requested voters to not vote for JDS.
