Bengaluru: In a sudden turn of events, Hassan DC Rohini Sindhuri has been transferred. She has left Hassan without handing over the charge to her announced replacement Akram Pasha at the District HQ.
It may be recalled that in 2018 January, the then state government led by Siddaramaiah had transferred her out of the district which led to protests and stiff resistance from the JDS leadership. Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda himself raised objections against Sindhuri's transfer. She was reappointed as the Hassan DC in June 2018
According to sources, Sindhuri was transferred following pressure from PWD minister HD Revanna who is opposing strict action against sand mafia. "Recently Sindhuri had seized sand valued at over Rs.10 crores. This belongs to Revanna's supporters. Irked by this Revanna ensured her transfer", said sources in the district administration.
Meanwhile, Rohini has been appointed as the secretary of the building labourers welfare board. She is likely moving to the CAT again seeking relief.
