Hassan: In a freak accident, a three-year-old boy died after his neck got caught in a car window. The incident occurred in the Doddaganni village of the Channarayapatna taluk in the Hassan district on Wednesday, April 24.
The deceased has been identified as Rathan Shetty, son of Indrani and Umesh, residents of the Dandishivara village in the Turuvekere taluk, Tumakuru district.
According to the Channarayapatna police, Rathan had arrived at his grandparents’ house, after which his maternal uncle, Umesh took him to his farmhouse. He then left the child inside the car and went into the farmhouse.
While waiting for his uncle, Rathan passed the time playing in the car. At some point of time, he put his head out of the car through the open window and by accident, pressed the window’s control button, resulting in its neck getting stuck. The child died on the spot.
The police have registered a UDR (unnatural death report) case.
