Fake naxals rob mill owner’s house

Hassan: Two alleged Naxalites burgled a house belonging to Dhanush and Monish, the grandsons of mill owner H N Manjappa in Hirisave village and fled with Rs six lakh worth of valuables and cash on Sunday.

The theft occured on Sunday when the two men claiming to be Naxalites entered the house of Manjappa and tied up two members of the family who run Nanjundeshwara Saw Mill in Hassan.

The duo threatened the family members with clubs and knives and tore a piece of the door curtain and used it to tie up Dhanush and lock him in. They then took Monish to the bedroom of their parents, H M Raghuram and Meena. The robbers tied up Raghuram in similar fashion.

Then they ransacked the almirah and took away six pairs of bangles, a necklace, earrings, finger rings and other jewellery. They also snatched Raghuram’s wristwatch and a gold chain, besides his wife’s Mangalsutra, bangles and finger rings. They also took away Rs 90,000 in cash and four mobile phones.

Then they put all the robbed valuables in a pillow cover and sneaked out of the front door..

The family has now filed a complaint against the robbers who were speaking in Tulu, Telugu and mixed Kannada.

Hassan SP Raman Gupta, ASP Kishore Babu and senior police officers are further investigating the case and the manhunt has been launched to nab the culprits.
