Hassan: Fifth member of JD(S) Supremo Devegowda’s family has entered politics. His daughter-in-law, Bhavani Revanna, filed her nomination as Janata Dal (Secular) candidate for Halekote Zilla Panchayat elections in Holenarasipur taluk on Saturday. She is the wife of former Minister H.D. Revanna.
She submitted her nomination papers to S. Muthuraj, Returning Officer in Holenarasipur, accompanied by Mr. Revanna and son, Prajwal Revanna, and other supporters.
Bhavani, speaking to presspersons later said that even till Friday she was not sure if she wanted to contest, but ultimately she had to budged down to the supporters who wanted her to contest.
Her husband too had entered politics through ZP polls, she said.
A section of party workers had put pressure on the party to field her in the recently held MLC elections. However, she did not contest as Mr. Deve Gowda did not approve her candidature. Besides, her name was doing the rounds for Belur Assembly constituency during the Legislative Assembly elections in 2013.
