Hassan: The students of the government first-grade college in Hassan who was writing the Corporate Accounts and Law of the University of Mysore (UoM) final year B.Com examination witnessed a rare scene. One of their classmates appeared for examination in her wedding attire as she got married the same morning.

Shwetha (20), a resident of Jayanagar of the city is the bride who wrote the examination a few minutes after her wedding.

According to Shwetha’s parents, she married Naveen, a resident of Gandasi on Sunday between 7.45 AM and 8.45 AM. “She appeared for examination at 10 AM,” informed her parents.

“Shwetha’s engagement with Naveen was held in May. Parents of both bride and bridegroom fixed marriage on November 18. The UoM was forced to postpone the B.Com final year examination scheduled on November 3 due to the Mandya Lok Sabha by-election. The UoM rescheduled the examination to Sunday. As both the dates were clashing, the bride decided to appear for the examination after the marriage,” they added.

Speaking to the reporters after writing the examination, Shwetha said she is confident of securing distinction. Her husband said that she will be free to continue her education and also take up a career.

“She will be a working woman and not a housewife,” he said.
