Hassan: As the Janata Dal (S) has decided to field its candidates in Mandya and Hassan independently for the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha election, former MLA from Congress A Manju has demanded that the coalition partner forgo its seats for Congress, here on Saturday, February 2.

Speaking to media, he said, “Congress and JDS are contesting the elections against each other in the Old Mysuru region. When the Congress party has given the chief minister’s seat to JDS what is wrong in us asking for two districts.”

Manju said that that the demand to reserve the seats of Mandya and Hassan was his personal view.

He opined, “When there is a coalition government in state, mutual understanding becomes very important.”

Reacting to PWD Minister H D Revanna’s statement of “letting” Congress file applications for all the 28 Lok Sabha seats in the state, Manju gave a counter saying, “Let him get down from his post.”

He opined that it was an unethical statement by H D Revanna.
