Kalaburgi: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Waris Pathan, who made a controversial statement during a recent anti-CAA protest, has been issued a second notice by the Kalaburgi Police, directing him to appear before the investigating officer on March 8.
Addressing the media earlier, Kalaburgi Police Commissioner M M Nagaraj said that Pathan was served a notice and was asked to appear before the investigating officer on February 29.
It can be recalled that Pathan, while addressing an anti-CAA rally organized in the district on February 20, had said, “The 15 crore population (Muslims) can dominate and cause damage to the 100 crore population (Hindus). It is time for us to fight and achieve our rights and freedom.”
As his statement irked the people of the country and attracted a lot of flak, he had said that he would take back his words if anyone’s sentiments were hurt, asserting that he is a ‘true Indian’.
