Kalaburgi: A 76-year-old man, who was suspected to have died as a result of the deadly Covid-19 infection on Tuesday, March 10 midnight, at a private hospital in Hyderabad, is confirmed to have succumbed to pneumonia, not coronavirus.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, March 11, state health minister B Sreeramulu said that the old man, a resident of MSK Mill Layout, died due to fever and pneumonia and not Covid-19.
Taking to Twitter, he wrote in Kannada, “A person named Hussain Siddique, who died in Kalaburgi of a suspected #COVID19 infection, did not die from it, as it was not confirmed that he was affected by it. The district health department has taken precautionary measures for his final rites. There is no need for confusions or panic #CovidUpdate.”

Earlier, the reports had claimed that the old man had contracted the deadly virus.
