Gulbarga: The State government’s notification of appointing Praveen B. Honguntikar as Registrar (Administration) and C.S. Patil as Registrar (Evaluation) of Gulbarga University, respectively has been stayed for four weeks by the High Court on Wednesday.
The interim order on the appeals filed by Chandrakanth M. Yatanoor and Sharanappa V. Halse, incumbents of these posts respectively was passed by a Division Bench comprising Justice N. Kumar and Justice G. Narendar.
The appellants have questioned the order of the court which on August 5 refused to stay the appointment of Mr. Patil and Mr.Honguntikar, who were appointed through the notifications issued on August 3.
The appellants have contended that those who were now appointed to the posts were neither KAS Group A senior scale officers nor senior faculty members of a university as per the norm.
Pointing out that they were yet to complete their three-year tenure, the appellants have alleged that new appointments were made either due to “political pressure” or for extraneous reasons by the Higher Education Department.
