Kalaburagi: Congress veteran leader and Member of Parliament Mallikarjun Kharge’s son Priyank Kharge who is the Minister for Social Welfare in the state coalition government, has openly challenged the Bharatiya Janata Party, here on Saturday, March 2, that anyone contesting in the Lok Sabha election against his father would definitely not have an upper hand.
Reacting on the questions posed by media whether Umesh Jadhav (Congress rebellion, supposedly to contest from BJP) would be a tough contender for his father, he said that if Prime Minister Narendra Modi too would contest against his father, even then he would win.
Umesh Jadhav, who stood as a rebel against the coalition, especially the Congress party, belongs to the Banjara community.
Meanwhile, he also answered the question of whether Sumalatha Ambareesh would contest from the Congress party from Mandya. He said that it was left to the decision of the party’s high command and coalition leaders Dinesh Gundu Rao, H D Deve Gowda and Siddaramaiah.
