The crowing of a rooster at the break of dawn can be the ideal wake up alarm for many individuals. However, some people do not have a liking for such sounds and instead depend on their alarm clocks and smartphone for a pleasant beginning to the day.
One such woman, with an utter dislike for early wake-up calls, has filed a complaint at Samartha police station in Maharashtra against a rooster for crowing at the ‘unearthly’ hour of 4:30 AM and disturbing her sleep every day.
According to a Mid-Day report, the police station, which falls under the jurisdiction of Pune city police commissionerate, received a complaint in writing with the area name and other necessary details. The letter, however, didn’t have the complainant’s name.
The letter clearly detailed the woman’s grievances and the officials from the Samartha police station had to spend an entire day just figuring ways to handle the case.
Interestingly, the area turned out to right opposite to the police station which is allotted for police residence quarters.
"On Thursday we received a letter from a woman, who said she is 45 years old, and that she has been unable to sleep for the last 15 days as a cock which sits on a mango tree near the Somwarpeth police lane starts crowing loudly at 4.30 am every day, ruining her sleep,” Senior Inspector Balkrishna Kadam told the newspaper.
The inspector added that some officials visited the location after receiving the letter and even tried locating the cock, but it could not be found anywhere.
After speaking to some neighbours, the police found that the woman confronted the rooster’s owner after several sleepless nights. However, the owner did not respond positively and the woman decided to file an official complaint.
When the owner realised he will be held accountable, he gave away the rooster to the butcher.
