Christian Bishop says gay people exist because pregnant women have anal sex-1A Church of Cyprus bishop Neophytos Masouras of Morphou landed in hot soup for his homophobic comment.

Neophytos Masouras opined that gay people come from pregnant women who engage in 'abnormal' sexual activities like anal sex.

He goes on to explain the logic behind his 'illogical statement' saying that when women carrying a baby engages in such a sexual activity, the same desires gets passed on to the baby who then grows up to be gay!

In his words, “it's a problem, which is usually transmitted by parents to the child.”

The footage from June was posted on social media and went viral, with Accept LGBTI Cyprus posting: "How are lesbians created?"

One user wrote: “The problem is not this ignoramus, the tragic problem is that there are thousands who believe him.”

In the past, people have previously blamed chicken nuggets and TV music channels for 'homosexuality' and even claimed that earthquakes happen when gay people engage in sex. And it's just beyond ridiculous.

Saint Porphyrios, who died in 1991, told gay people to stay single and pray for their sexuality to go away all their life, reports New Zealand Herald.

Back in 2014 several thousand people turned out for Cyprus’ first gay pride parade and ACCEPT-LGBT Cyprus President Costas Gavrielides back then urged lawmakers to pass legislation to further gay rights, including a civil partnership law.

Cyprus, a European Union member and a largely Orthodox Christian society, decriminalised homosexuality a dozen years ago, in 2004 an anti-discrimination law explicitly forbade discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation in employment.

But with what the Bishop above stated seems like the nation has much to improve on in terms of gay rights.
