“There is no school equal to a decent home and no teacher equal to a virtuous parent.”

– M. K. Gandhi

The mind of a human being can work mysteriously. From being a storehouse of memory and working like the timeless machines of time, it is said that a human mind can work much faster than any machine that has been invented. At the end of the day, it’s us, the humans who created it!

Speaking of memory? Our 2-year-old 4 months Taneesh N has bagged the Asia Book of World Records and Indian Book of Word Record for the second time attaining nationwide attention.

Born to M. Nagaraj, President, Kuvempu Foundation and Shwetha Nagaraj, Cultural President, Shwetanjali Bharatanatyam School, this young mastermind belongs to Lakkur Village, Muluru Taluk, Kolar District.  He can recite national flags of 48 countries in a single minute placing our country’s name on the book of records. He also tells the names of 195 countries, leaving us speechless!

Taneesh’s father Nagaraj says, “It all started when he was a year old. His mother got him some books that had the Kannada Varnamala and taught him easily. Within 10 – 20 mins, our boy started reciting them instantly. We realised that he has an amazing grasping power and got him 18 books immediately.”

Taneesh has also bagged the first place to get yellow-belt in the Karnataka Archives of World Record (for Karate), Will Medal of World Record, and Kids World Record. Being a 2-year-old wonderchild, he became the first one to receive the India Books of World Record.  “He also recites the shlokas, loves skating, spends every 2 – 3 hours reading books and finishes all his homework on his own. He can also recognise the different freedom fighters and state and capitals altogether.”

Along with the names of the national flags, he is keen on singing patriotic songs, reciting multiplication tables, and naming the Continents. He also names various names of vegetables, animals, english and kannada alphabets! These were done through flash cards which were covered by the young man within 3 minutes! Overall, Taneesh has bagged 7 records so far!

“As parents, we feel overwhelmed to have a kid like him. We would like to thank God and support him for all his wishes and aspirations in the future. My only wish for him is to grow much further.”

Looking at his amazing grasping power and memory, on April 29, his parents decided to record it and send it to Asia Book of Records and Indian Books of Record, Haryana. 2-year old Taneesh had his prize come up in an envelope making his parents and the Kolar region proud than ever! His parents say that these aspects in relation to his memory were seen when he was a year old. Such as the names of different animals, different parts of his body, the names of the flags were taught to him and motivated him to learn more.

The whole learning process started during the lockdown, where they showed him various flags of the countries, asking him to recite those names and helping him to practice it. Taneesh’s talent was broadcasted live in a show called “Chinnara Loka” a children based programme on Doordarshan showcasing his achievements.

Mr. Nagaraj says, “As they say, a journey of a thousand miles begins with a small step. Taneesh has indeed set his tiny little step that has brought wonders to our lives.”
