At the start of last month – August 31, September 1 and 2, to be precise – a team from the Spearhead Media Group consisting of shareholders Valerian Dalmaida, Kannan Prabhakaran and Brian Fernandes CEO of the Spearhead Group (Owners of the brands Newskarnataka.com, Newskannada.com, NKTv and Karnataka Today) was in Dallas, Texas, USA to promote their media products at the world conference of the Association of the Kannada Kootas of America – abbreviated appropriately to AKKA ’18.
It was a grand affair. Held at the Sheraton Convention Centre in downtown Dallas, the conference, which had something for everyone – businessmen, professionals, artists and artistes, children, ladies, gents and indeed the couples – with veteran Sandalwood actor conducting a session of Adarsha Dampathigalu for them, saw nearly 5,000 people in attendance for over three days, totally enjoying the proceedings.
However, prior to the commencement of the conference, the team visited Houston, a 4 hour drive away from the venue and met with, among others, Henry D’Silva, Director of the award-winning hit Konkani flick, “Noshibacho Khell”, who had just held a screening of the film for the Hustonites who love their Konkani. He was scheduled to have another screening in New Jersey in September before flying back to India to work on his next project, “Nirmillem Nirmonem”.
The team had a chance to interact with this dynamic director and spoke about a wide range of subjects ranging from his success to his next project and media in general.
