Mangaluru: A caution board is seen hanging in front of a city-based hotel which reads that bikers can be allowed to park their vehicle only for an hour. If their motorcycle is found in the parking slot for more than a hour, it would be dragged to roadside, the board warns. The board also denies responsibility for if the traffic police tow away such motorcycle.
This caution board is being put in front of a vegetarian hotel ‘Ayodhya’, located near PVS circle. Due to the tasty food served here, people are always seen thronging in front of the hotel. The hotel has a designated parking slot which is always full with vehicles. Though some people come here and park their vehicle for having food, they spend a lot of time in the hotel. In such a situation, the other customers don’t find a place to park their vehicle. Hence, the hotel management has taken this unique move.
However, this move of the hotel has received a mixed response from the public. While some customers have welcomed the hotel’s move, some others have opposed the same claiming that if they came in groups, more than an hour was needed to have food.
But the hotel management justifies the move stating that their intention was not to hurt anyone but to serve more number of people. They also allege that some people put their vehicles in their parking area and goes for shopping elsewhere.
Ramdas, co-owner of the hotel, told newskarnataka.com that it was inevitable for them to do so as vehicle parking is a very big problem in Mangaluru. “I have observed that even though our two-wheeler parking slot is almost full, sometimes there will be no customers in our hotel. It indicates that some people come here only to park their vehicle. In such circumstances, our customers don’t find place in our premises to park their vehicle. Our intention is to serve our customers properly”, he said.
Prior to this, the same hotel had gained the attention of the public placing another board which cautioned of deflating the wheels of vehicles found parked for long hours in its premises.
