The name is obviously familiar among Mangalureans, and ?fish lovers from elsewhere in the world, as when they head to Mangaluru, Giri Manjas is a must visit place, recommended by friends and family and Mangalurueans on the street! For it has the most lip-smacking sea food on its menu and in its plates!

Best known for its Anjal masala fry as well as prawn tawa masala, Giri Manja’s has always seen bustling with people, many of whom arrive in their swanky cars in the crowded Car Street area to partake of their favorite fish dish or order some take away!
It is no wonder that this small outlet found a place on BBC’s list of ‘Top 5 Tiny Restaurants of India’.
Founded by Late Giridhar Pai, the outlet rose to fame with a masala concocted by his son, Late Manjunath Pai, which had people licking their fingers till their skin came off!… metaphorically speaking. The place is now being run by Nandini Pai, wife of Manjunath Pai following his death.
The hotel, formerly a house, has two long tables lining either side of the front room and can seat around 30 people at a time. People coming here, say they love the homely ambiance and being able to chat with those seated with them while enjoying their meal.
Despite the popularity, Nandini M Pai has no plans of opening any further outlets across the city and says the use of fresh fish and the love with which they serve their food has ?contributed to its success.
