Tax consultant from Bengaluru, Dr. Muralidhara is a staunch believer of lord Ganesha. He was fascinated by the various idols of Ganesha and started collecting them and placing it on the dashboard of his car. What started as a simple interest has now led to a collection of 220 unique Ganesha idols which adorn his car.

“Only Ganesha has different varieties of idols which are available across the world and this sparked my interest,” said Dr. Muralidhara. He said that placing all these idols in his car has brought him a lot of positivity and inspiration throughout his life. He started collecting them since he bought his first car in 2006.

“I always get different kinds of reactions from people who come into the car. Some question my actions and ask me if I am trying to sell them but most of the time, I get a positive response from the people who feel happy and get a positive energy from seeing the idols,” said Dr. Muralidhara.

He explained that each and every idol in collection is completely different from each other and that people have now got accustomed to seeing the idols. “When I am at the traffic signal or parked anywhere else, people always turn to admire my idol collection,” he said. “People that are close to me have been so used to seeing me with the idols in my car that sometimes when I am in another car, they ask me where my idols are,” he added.

Dr. Muralidhara has travelled around India and has been to many other countries from where he has collected many of the idols from his collection. “Due to my work nature and for my clients, I have been to a lot of places like Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Nepal, Jaipur, Delhi and Kathmandu to name a few and this has helped me add new models to my collection,” he said.

“An interesting thing which happened during my travel to Hyderabad was that I met a Muslim man who was in possession of 3000 Ganesha Idols,” he said.

He explained that once in 6 months he takes out all the collection from the car, cleans it and keeps it back. “This is a very tedious task and usually takes up a lot of time,” he said. “Before starting anything new, we always invoke the blessings of Ganesha and I believe that he is a very powerful God,” Dr. Muralidhara said, “When I started my job I only had 14 clients and now I have 200 and consider this to be a blessing from Ganesha!”
